How to cancel a scheduled payment

Overview

If you need to cancel a scheduled payment, you may be able to do so directly through your My Account dashboard. However, payments can only be canceled if they have not yet started processing. Payments sent by check or money order cannot be canceled once they are mailed.

How to Cancel a Scheduled Payment Online

You can cancel certain payments directly from your account:

  1. Log in to your account at Upstart.com.

  2. Navigate to the Payments section of your dashboard.

  3. Review your scheduled payments list.

  4. If a payment is eligible for cancellation, an “X” will appear in the Cancel column on the right side.

  5. Click the “X” and provide a brief reason for canceling the payment.

  6. Confirm by selecting “Cancel Payment.”

💡 Note: If your payment is already being processed, the option to cancel it may no longer be available.

Adjusting a Scheduled AutoPay Payment

You can change your payment date or amount by updating your AutoPay settings.  Please note that changes to AutoPay may take up to 3 business days to process, so plan ahead if you need to adjust when your next payment will be deducted from your account.

You may also be eligible to skip your next AutoPay payment instead of changing your AutoPay settings. This option is available when scheduling a one-time payment within the current payment period and applies to:
✔ Personal Loans, Auto Loans, and Relief Loans
✔ Borrowers enrolled in monthly AutoPay (not twice a month AutoPay)
✔ Payments scheduled at least 3 days away

If eligible, you will see a Skip AutoPay option when scheduling a one-time payment. If this option does not appear, the current AutoPay experience will remain unchanged. Be mindful that scheduling a one-time payment does not replace a scheduled AutoPay payment unless the Skip AutoPay option is available and selected.
