Overview
Upstart offers various ways to manage how we communicate with you. This article outlines some of the types of communications you may receive, how they’re delivered (e.g. email, SMS, push), and how to update your preferences when possible.
📬 Types of Communications
📱 Managing Text Message (SMS) Preferences
To manage your text message preferences:
- Log in to your Upstart account and select the loan account you want to update
- Open the menu in the upper-right corner
- Select SMS Consent
From here, you’ll see three toggles:
- Upstart Notifications – Application status updates via SMS
- Marketing Notifications – Offers and promotions via SMS
- Lender Notifications – Account-related SMS alerts from your lender
Note: Turning off these toggles will stop the corresponding messages. However, required servicing communications may still be sent via other channels (email or mail). You can also request to be opted out by contacting our support team via phone or email.
📞 Managing Email and Phone Call Preferences
To opt out of none marketing email, phone calls:
- Please contact our support team.
- We will help update your contact preferences based on what’s available for your loan or application.
Note: Some communications may still be required depending on your loan status and applicable regulations.
Next Steps
You can manage most communication preferences directly through your Upstart account, but some types of outreach—especially servicing-related—may still be sent as required.
If you have questions about your communication preferences or are unsure how to manage your preferences, please contact support for assistance.
