Having trouble linking your bank with Plaid? Here's what to do

Overview

Plaid is a third-party provider used to link bank accounts. If you're having trouble connecting your bank account using Plaid, this article walks through common issues and how to resolve them.

I Can’t Log In to My Bank Using Plaid

Try the following:

  • Double-check your online banking username and password
  • Log into your bank’s website directly to confirm credentials are working
  • If you're using a mobile device, try switching to a desktop browser
  • Clear your browser cache or try an incognito/private window

If that doesn't work, you can try manually adding your account using one of these methods. Just keep in mind that manual verification may take longer than connecting through Plaid:

  • Upload a Voided Check
  • Use Small Deposits Verification (we’ll send two small deposits to your account, and you’ll verify them within a few days)

My Bank or Credit Union Isn’t Listed in Plaid

Some banks do not support Plaid connections yet. If your financial institution isn’t listed:

  • Try searching for alternate names or recent mergers
  • Choose manual verification instead:
    • Voided Check Upload
    • Small Deposits Verification

I’m Not Receiving a Code from My Bank

  • Try a different browser or device
  • Double-check that your login info is correct
  • Confirm that your bank isn’t blocking security codes or two-factor messages

Try:

  • Switching to a different browser or device
  • Clearing your browser cache
  • Using an incognito/private browsing tab
